Permit Garden (2024)
2024 | 5 min 41 s
Markers and watercolour on back-lit acetate
A dreamlike parable about immigration, Permit Garden follows a nameless child as they toil to gain exit from the Garden. But as time goes on, they wonder if escape is even possible. Drawing from personal experience, community research, gardening and phrases on the Canadian government website, Permit Garden sheds light on the difficulties of navigating administrative obstacles within the Canadian immigration system, as well as the resilience and hope that carry individuals through times of despair.
